Jerry Leoni’s passion for the fine artistry and precision of drumming started at the tender age of ten in his hometown of Republic, Pennsylvania. By the time he was a senior in high school, Jerry’s career as a professional drummer had begun with his playing in polka and Top 40 bands at clubs in Pittsburgh and the surrounding area. Over the years, Jerry has been making a living while fulfilling his dream of making music.
Throughout his career, Jerry toured nationally with Marie Osmond, Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton and the Osmond Family Christmas Tour. Jerry has toured the U.S. and internationally with Connie Stevens; and is currently touring with national and international recording artists, the Lettermen, which he has been doing for the past 21 years. Other artists he has either opened for, or played with, include Michael Sembello, Josh Sklair, Manhattan Transfer, Mickey Dolenz, Richard Groove Holmes a Grammy Jazz Organist winner. Mary Wells, Mary Wilson, James Brown, and David Clayton Thomas, amid a variety of other performers.
Jerry has appeared on numerous TV shows including the Children’s Miracle Network Telethon, Behind the Artists on Los Angeles Cable, the primetime series A Year in the Life on NBC and the FOX primetime show Comic Strip Live from the Laugh Factory in Hollywood, California.
Modern Drummer Magazine featured Jerry in the April 2003 issue in an article written by Robyn Flans. Modern Drummer made another mention later that same year in the November issue. Jerry’s recordings include numerous CD’s with the Lettermen, Michael Sembello at the Bossa Nova Hotel Recording Studio, Gina Haley, Bev and Greg Smith, Danny Leoni, Rich Harper and Barbara Leoni, to name a few. He has also appeared on several live concert DVD’s with the Lettermen. Jerry has played at Vocal Group Hall of Fame Induction ceremonies.
Jerry’s equipment includes Jerry Leoni signature series RICH drumsticks 5B , Sonor for his acoustic drums and Roland V-Drums are his electronic drums of choice. Jerry also uses E-Pad which allows him to play anywhere and everywhere.
Although currently residing in the Los Angeles area, Jerry continues to make frequent trips back to Pennsylvania, where this drummer’s dreams began.
